Kings Beach is the main beach of Port Elizabeth, located in the city centre facing Algoa Bay. This long golden sandy beach is one of the most famous in South Africa. It faces southeast and benefits from direct exposure to SE wind. The beach is spacious and well-equipped with full facilities. This is a convenient urban spot with reliable conditions thanks to PE's "Windy City" status.
The spot works with SE to SW wind. The beach is vast and offers plenty of space. Beach break on sandy bottom. Rideable at all tides. Wide beach at low tide. Lifeguard-patrolled swimming zone — respect kite riding zones. Best from October to March. The spot is shared with swimmers in high season.
Waves of 0.5-2 metres (beach break). Sandy bottom. Moderate to strong chop in sustained SE. Water temperature between 18-22°C. 3/2 wetsuit in summer, 4/3 in winter.
