Kirkness North Floodway is an access point to the northern section of the Red River Floodway, northeast of Winnipeg near the Kirkness community. This northern section of the Floodway offers wider and less urbanized flood plains than the southern sections. The flat prairie terrain ensures regular, unobstructed wind. Convenient urban spot for Winnipeg kitesurfers.

Northern floodway flood plains. Very shallow, flat water. Flat muddy bottom. Large riding area when plains are flooded. Regular prairie wind without obstacles. Conditions similar to other Floodway spots.
Access prohibited when the channel is in operation (floods). Muddy bottom. Debris possible in the flood plains. Power lines — check surroundings before riding. Less frequented area — riding with a partner recommended.
