Cap Vendome (Cape Jervis) is a kitesurfing spot located at the southern tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, on the Backstairs Passage that separates the mainland from Kangaroo Island. It is the departure point for the ferry to Kangaroo Island. The prevailing wind comes from the southwest in summer. The strait channels the wind and can create powerful conditions. Currents in the strait can be very strong, especially during tidal changes. The water is deep and conditions are demanding. The spot is reserved for advanced riders due to strong currents and strait conditions. Watch out for maritime traffic (ferry, fishing boats). Parking available at the ferry terminal. The view of Kangaroo Island is spectacular.
