Kourouta is a popular spot on the west coast of the Peloponnese, near Amaliada in the Ilia region. This long fine-sand beach facing west is one of the best-known beaches in the region, offering good kitesurfing conditions with the NW Maestro.
A lively beach resort in summer, Kourouta combines reliable wind conditions with tourist infrastructure (beach bars, restaurants, accommodation). A good spot for combining kitesurfing with family holidays.
Afternoon sessions (1-7 PM) with the NW Maestro from May to September. Wide, long beach ideal for launching. Accessible conditions for intermediates. Beach bars offer a comfortable landmark between sessions.
Open water, chop of 30-60cm in Maestro. Regular sandy bottom, progressive depth. Warm water (24-27°C in summer). Long W swell possible on strong wind days.

Many swimmers in summer — respect swimming zones. Coastal currents in strong wind. Shore break with western swell. Jet-skis and rental boats in season.
Dominant NW Maestro in summer, 12-20 knots in the afternoon, arriving side-onshore on this west-facing beach. W/WSW thermal breeze on weak Maestro days. Steadier, less violent wind than on Aegean coasts. The straight coastline without obstacles creates a pleasant laminar flow.
