Crown Point is a kitesurfing spot located in Mission Bay, a man-made lagoon in San Diego, California. This flat, sheltered water body is one of the best beginner spots in San Diego, with regular west to northwest afternoon thermal winds. Crown Point offers good water access and spacious rigging area on the lawn. The shallow, calm waters are ideal for learning.

Flat lagoon-style water body with no waves. Shallow water (0.5-2m) over a large area. Water is temperate (16-22°C/61-72°F), shorty or rashguard in summer, 3/2 in winter. Sandy and clean bottom. No significant current. Among the easiest conditions in California for learning and progressing.
Heavy traffic from boats, jet skis, paddlers, and kayaks in Mission Bay — constant vigilance. Kitesurfing prohibited in some bay areas — respect regulations. Swimmers and waders in shallow water. Trees and light poles near shores — careful with launching and landing. Regulated speed zone.
