Orange Beach is a beach town just east of Gulf Shores, near the Florida border (Perdido Key). The white sand beach faces south on the Gulf of Mexico. Orange Beach is slightly more upscale than Gulf Shores with luxury condominiums and marinas. The spot offers the same conditions as Gulf Shores — moderate Gulf waves and white sand. The town is also known for deep-sea sport fishing. Perdido Pass (inlet) to the west creates currents and interesting conditions for experienced riders.
Moderate Gulf of Mexico waves. Light to moderate shore break. White quartz sand bottom. Best conditions in SE to SW winds. Winter cold fronts bring strong but offshore wind. Very warm water in summer (82-86°F). Conditions are similar to Gulf Shores — the Gulf generally produces smaller waves than the Atlantic.

Perdido Pass (inlet) to the west — strong tidal currents, don't drift toward the inlet. Busy swimming zone in summer. Stingrays. Jellyfish (including occasional man-of-war). Sharks present in Gulf waters. Violent thunderstorms in summer. Hurricanes possible June through November. Fishing boat traffic near marinas.
