Ohiwa is a kitesurfing spot located in Ohiwa Harbour, east of the Bay of Plenty. This natural harbour offers a vast shallow water area, ideal for kitesurfing in safe conditions. The harbour is protected from ocean swell by a sand spit. The prevailing winds come from the southwest and west, but northeasterly sea breezes also work well. Tides have a significant impact on the navigable area, with large sandy expanses exposed at low tide. Spot suitable for beginners and intermediates thanks to the shallow waters.
