Caples Ext Rd is a kitesurfing spot on the lower Columbia in southwestern Washington State, downstream from the Gorge. This section of the river is influenced by ocean tides that push up the Columbia. The body of water is wide with flat water conditions. Winds are thermal breezes from the west to northwest. Floodplain landscape with riparian forests. Close to Portland (Oregon) and Vancouver (Washington).
