Skagen Nordstrand is the west/north-facing beach of Skagen, directly exposed to the North Sea. This is the "wild" side of the Skagen peninsula, known for its powerful waves, dramatic beauty, and consistent winds. Expansive sandy beach facing the elements.
Complementary spot to the Kattegat-side Skagen - together they cover all wind directions. 3,423 kiteable hours/year and 2,017 strong wind hours.
Local Skagen surf and kite community.
Works primarily in west to northwest winds (onshore). For easterly winds, use the Kattegat-side Skagen spot instead. The combination of both spots covers all wind directions.
North Sea waves and swell. Powerful surf conditions. Sandy bottom with deep water relatively close to shore. Spot suited for wave riding and wave kitesurfing. No flat water here.

Strong North Sea currents. Large waves possible. Cold water. Maritime traffic. Not suitable for beginners. Powerful shore break in strong swell.
Exposed to prevailing west and northwest winds from the North Sea. Slightly more sheltered from easterly winds than the Kattegat-side spot. W, NW and N winds are optimal here (onshore). Wind often sustained and steady thanks to ocean fetch.
