Portage du Cap is a spot on a narrow isthmus in the southern part of Havre-Aubert island. This passage between two bodies of water offers a unique feature: depending on wind direction, you can ride on either side of the land strip. The spot benefits from relatively sheltered water on the bay side, with open water access on the Gulf side. Sandy and shallow bottom, especially at low tide.
Double exposure thanks to the isthmus — bay side offers protected flat water, Gulf side is more exposed with chop to waves. Very shallow sandy bottom at low tide. Water is cold (12-16°C in summer), wetsuit required. Tides play an important role, significantly changing the rideable area.

Open all year round
Very shallow areas at low tide — risk of touching bottom. Currents in the passage between the two bodies of water. Cold water all season. Sandbars that can trap beginners. The land strip is narrow — watch kite lines when crossing from one side to the other.
