Mangawhai Heads - Estuary is a kitesurf spot located in the Mangawhai estuary, on the east coast of Northland. Unlike the ocean beach spot at Mangawhai Heads, this spot offers a sheltered body of water in the estuary. Northeast to easterly winds are the most frequent. The estuary protects from swell and offers calm waters. Tides have a major impact on water level, with large areas exposed at low tide. The bottom is sandy and muddy. Excellent spot for beginners and intermediates.
