Harrisville Harbor is a kitesurf spot located at Harrisville Harbor, on the western shore of Lake Huron, in Alcona County, northeastern Lower Michigan. This small marina offers sheltered access to Lake Huron. The natural harbor and jetties provide partial wave protection. Harrisville, with its historic lighthouse, is a picturesque stop on Michigan's Sunrise Side coast.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Lake Huron water body with a harbor providing partial protection. Moderate chop conditions in the harbor, larger waves beyond the jetties in east winds. Cold water — full wetsuit required except in midsummer. Sandy bottom. The harbor offers calmer conditions for launching and returning, while the open lake provides more wind and waves.
Harbor jetties to avoid while riding — currents and waves breaking on structures. Boat traffic in the harbor and channel. Cold Lake Huron water with hypothermia risk. Rocks possible near jetties and shore. Violent thunderstorms possible in summer with lightning risk — exit water immediately. Relatively remote area.
