Woodruff Narrows Reservoir is a kitesurf spot on a reservoir at 1,966m elevation in southwestern Wyoming, near the Utah border, in the Bear River valley. This isolated lake offers consistent southwest winds channeled by the valley. High-altitude prairie setting with the Uinta Mountains as a backdrop. Very uncrowded. Season from June to September. Limited services — Evanston 45 min away.
Cold high-altitude freshwater. Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 18°C in summer. Muddy bottom. Very variable lake level depending on irrigation — can be very low in late summer. Moderate chop. Full 5/3 wetsuit recommended. Elevation 1,966m.

High elevation (1,966m): rapid dehydration. Cold water — hypothermia possible. Violent mountain thunderstorms with lightning. Isolation: rescue services distant, limited cell coverage. Very variable lake level — dangerous shallows. Elk and pronghorn antelope in the area.
