Mitchell Village Park is a soundside spot on the mainland, facing Bogue Banks, on Bogue Sound in the town of Morehead City. The park offers easy access to Bogue Sound with parking, picnic areas and water access. The body of water is sheltered and shallow, suitable for beginners. Morehead City is the main mainland town on the Crystal Coast, offering all services. The spot is a good alternative when ocean conditions are too strong or wind is offshore on the beach side.
Flat to slightly choppy water on Bogue Sound. Depth varies with tide. Sandy bottom. The sound is sheltered between the mainland and Bogue Banks. Good conditions for learning and freestyle. Space can be more limited than on Pamlico Sound.
