Overview

Wave spot in the Grande-Entrée area, in the northeast of the Magdalen Islands. As its name suggests, this spot is oriented toward waves with direct exposure to Gulf of St. Lawrence swells. It's a favourite among experienced kitesurfers and surfers seeking committed conditions. Waves can reach significant size in sustained easterly or northeasterly winds.

Spot functioning

On the water

Wave spot exposed to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. East and northeast swells generate quality waves, sometimes up to 2m+. Sandy bottom. Current can be strong in big swell. Water is cold all season (12-15°C), 5/3 wetsuit recommended in spring and fall. Ideal spot for strapless and kite surfing.

Committed spot for experienced riders only. Powerful waves possible with strong currents. Very cold water — hypothermia risk without proper wetsuit. Unsupervised isolated area. Shore break can be violent. Watch for lateral drift current.
