Potlach State Park is a secondary access to Hood Canal in southern Washington State, near Shelton. This state park offers access to the southern end of Hood Canal (Great Bend). Sheltered and shallow body of water, heavily influenced by tides. Winds channeled through Hood Canal provide rideable conditions. Pacific Northwest forest setting. State park with camping and services.

Southern Hood Canal with cold saltwater (8-14°C/46-57°F). A 4/3 to 5/3mm wetsuit recommended. Flat water in this sheltered fjord. Very shallow at low tide. Muddy bottom. Tides strongly influence the rideable area.
Low tide exposing vast mud flats. Cold water. Muddy bottom difficult to walk on. Hood Canal subject to low-oxygen events. Discover Pass required. Shallow area that can damage fins.
