Overview

Vrist Strand is a North Sea coast beach, north of Thorsminde and Nissum Fjord. Exposed ocean beach spot with powerful conditions — waves, strong currents and rip currents. For flat water, Nissum Fjord at Thorsminde (10 km south) is the recommended alternative. Wide sandy beach with car access.

Chop to medium waves with North Sea wind swell. Sandbanks creating breaking zones. Strong currents along the coast and rip currents in channels between sandbanks. Cold water year-round (max 17°C) — thick wetsuit essential.

Potentially life-threatening rip currents — form in channels between sandbanks. Strong currents along the coast. Easterly winds blow offshore towards open sea — extremely dangerous. Remote spot with no specific rescue services. Prefer Thorsminde (10 km south) where jetties organize the swell.
