Zandvoort is a vibrant seaside town 30 minutes by train from Amsterdam Central, home to one of the most well-known kitesurf spots in the Netherlands. Host of Red Bull Megaloop and other kite events. Wide North Sea beach, steady SW/W/NW winds, relaxed atmosphere. Recommended spot: the activity beach on the south side (navigate to strandpaviljoen 'de Zilvermeeuw').
NKV designated zones — season May–October. Less crowded than Scheveningen despite its popularity. Winds typically SW to N. Watch for rip currents (identifiable by uneven wave patterns). No significant hidden obstacles. Beachclubs Tijn Akersloot (good food on sand), Rapa Nui and The Spot (parties). Direct train connection to Amsterdam.
Mostly choppy North Sea water. Slight to medium waves depending on wind strength. Good for freeride and wave riding. Foil also popular. Surf also possible on bigger swell days.
