Attersee is the largest lake entirely within Austria, in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. The lake is 20 km long and offers good conditions for kitesurfing and wingfoiling thanks to thermal winds that develop in the afternoon. The main wind is the Rosenwind, a southerly thermal wind that blows along the full length of the lake. The water is exceptionally clear with visibility up to 25 m. The setting is beautiful with the Salzkammergut mountains in the background.
