Alpnach is on the Alpnachersee, an arm of Lake Lucerne in the canton of Obwalden. The water body is relatively small but benefits from winds channeled by the surrounding mountains. The Föhn can blow here and create interesting conditions. The setting is pleasant at the foot of Mount Pilatus.
