Gunnamatta is a kitesurf spot located on the ocean coast of the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria. This wild and exposed beach is known for its powerful waves and demanding conditions. It is one of the most renowned surf spots in Victoria, and experienced kitesurfers find exceptional wave riding conditions here. The dominant southwest to west winds blow side-shore to side-onshore on this southwest-facing beach. The waves are consistent and powerful, fed by Southern Ocean swells. The spot is strictly reserved for advanced to expert riders due to the power of the waves, dangerous rip currents, and ocean exposure. Access is via Truemans Road. Parking is at the top of the cliffs with a trail to descend to the beach. Warning: rip currents at Gunnamatta are among the most dangerous in Victoria. Never ride alone and check conditions before entering the water.
