Agios Stefanos Avliotes is a spot on Corfu's northwest coast, facing the Diapontia islands. This bay opens west/northwest and receives the full force of the Maestro, making it one of the windiest spots on the island. The sandy beach is wide with a spectacular cliff backdrop. Conditions are consistent in summer with the Maestro blowing directly onshore.
Rideable May to September, best conditions in July-August. The Maestro picks up late morning and blows all afternoon. Launch directly from the sandy beach. Large riding area in the bay. In strong Maestro (+20 knots), waves build with challenging conditions. A few tavernas on the beach for food.
Open water facing northwest with waves and chop in Maestro. Gradually deepening sandy bottom. Waves 0.5-2m depending on wind strength. The Diapontia islands offshore provide slight protection limiting maximum wave size. Crystal clear water.

Parking at the end of the road going down to Agios Stefanos beach. Parking spots along the road and a main car park near the beach. Paved access all the way to the beach.
In strong Maestro, waves can be powerful with shore break. Lateral currents possible in the bay. Tourist boats heading to the Diapontia islands in summer. Rocks at the bay's extremities — stay in the central sandy area. No specialized rescue nearby.
Direct exposure to the Maestro (NW/WNW), the dominant summer wind of the Ionian islands. Wind arrives onshore to side-onshore with no obstacles, often 15-25 knots in midsummer. The northwest coast is Corfu's most exposed to the Maestro. Wind is generally steady and sustained, without the turbulence found on sheltered coasts. N/NNW wind also blows side-onshore from the right.
