Overview

Hurst Castle is a spot in Hampshire, located on Hurst Spit — a 2km shingle bar extending into the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. Unique position at the tip of the spit with views of the Needles. Very strong currents.

Parking

Parking in Milford-on-Sea. Access to Hurst Castle on foot (2km walk along the spit) or by ferry from Keyhaven.

Hazards

Extremely strong currents in the passage between Hurst Castle and the Needles. Shingle beach. Isolation — long walk back. Heavy maritime traffic in the strait.
