Exceptional setting with Mount Olympus in the background. Family-friendly spot suitable for all levels.
Launch from the long sandy beach — plenty of rigging space. In Vardaris (N/NNW), the wind is side-shore — ideal conditions. In east wind (onshore), more accessible conditions for beginners. Progressive depth, shallow areas near the shore. Spot shared with swimmers in summer — respect safety distances and marked zones.
Flat to light chop water. The gulf fetch (20 km) is moderate and doesn't generate large waves. In Vardaris side-shore, chop is minimal. Progressive depth with shallow areas appreciated by beginners. Clear and clean water, pleasant temperature in summer. Good conditions for foiling.

Relatively safe spot, suitable for beginners. Swimmers in summer — maintain safe distance. In strong Vardaris, conditions can become too powerful for beginners. Some jellyfish possible in summer. No specific supervision for water sports.
The Vardaris (N/NNW) is the dominant wind, arriving from the Vardar valley side-shore. At this more southerly latitude, the Vardaris is sometimes slightly attenuated compared to spots further north (Thessaloniki), but remains powerful and consistent. East/NE winds cross the gulf and arrive onshore. Reliable thermals in summer, reinforced by heating of Olympus slopes. The Pieria coast is relatively protected from southerly winds by the mountains.
