Matemwe is a kitesurfing spot located on the northeast coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania. This white sand beach faces east onto the Indian Ocean. The southeast trade winds blow cross-shore during the Kusi season (June to October). The offshore coral reef creates a reef flat that is exposed at low tide. The tide plays a major role: at low tide, the water retreats far and reveals the flat reef. The spot is suited to intermediate riders with beautiful tropical conditions and an authentic fishing village.
