Blackstrap is a provincial reservoir located 40 km south of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan's largest city. Blackstrap Reservoir, created for irrigation and recreation, has become a popular kitesurfing spot thanks to its proximity to Saskatoon and regular conditions. Blackstrap Provincial Park offers camping, a beach and even a ski hill (the 1971 Canada Winter Games were held here). The flat prairie terrain ensures excellent wind. Most accessible spot from Saskatoon.

Provincial reservoir. Shallow, flat water. Sandy/muddy bottom. Light chop. Water warming in summer (18-22°C). Regular prairie wind. Ideal conditions for all levels. Proximity to Saskatoon allowing after-work sessions.
Violent and sudden prairie thunderstorms. Muddy bottom in some areas. Cold water in spring and fall. Boat traffic in summer. Algae possible in late summer. Respect provincial park regulations.
