Spirit Lake North Beach is a kitesurf spot on Spirit Lake, Iowa's largest natural lake, in the Iowa Great Lakes region in the northwest of the state. This glacial lake offers excellent fetch with its 22 km² surface area. Prairie winds are consistent and powerful. North Beach provides good water access. Popular summer resort area with many services. Season from May to October.

Clear glacial-origin freshwater. Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 24°C in summer. Max depth ~7m. Sandy to muddy bottom. Moderate to strong chop in high winds due to good fetch. Full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall, shorty or rashguard in summer.
Frequent violent thunderstorms in summer with lightning — exit water immediately if sky threatens. Powerful prairie winds can exceed 40 knots. Heavy boat traffic in summer (boats, jet skis). Blue-green algae possible in summer — check health advisories. Relatively large lake: drift possible in strong winds.
