Creve Coeur Lake is a kitesurf spot on an urban lake in the western suburbs of St. Louis. This crescent-shaped lake, a former Missouri River oxbow, offers a unique setting in an urban environment. Small lake but sufficient for kiting in good winds. Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park offers parking, beach, and amenities. Most accessible spot in the St. Louis metro. Season from May to October.

Freshwater with limited visibility. Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 27°C in summer. Small and shallow lake (max ~5m). Muddy bottom. Limited fetch due to crescent shape. Short chop. Full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall, shorty in summer.
Violent thunderstorms in summer with lightning and possible tornadoes — exit water immediately. Small lake: risk of hitting bottom and drifting to shore. Dense algae and aquatic vegetation in summer. Kayak and angler traffic. Numerous mosquitoes. Park regulations to respect.
