Spot de Raby Bay

Raby Bay

Raby Bay

Overview

Raby Bay is a kitesurfing spot located in Moreton Bay, south-east of Brisbane in Queensland. This sheltered flat-water spot is nestled in a residential area along the Redland Bay coast. Raby Bay offers ideal conditions for beginners and riders looking for flat water thanks to its sheltered position in the bay. The prevailing wind blows from the south-east (trade winds) and enters the bay at a favorable angle. The water is shallow and relatively calm, protected by the islands of Moreton Bay (notably North Stradbroke Island). Wind conditions are best between October and March, with thermal breezes reinforcing the trade winds in the afternoon. The spot is accessible and well suited for beginners and intermediate riders. The body of water is shared with pleasure boats, so stay vigilant. Parking is available along the residential streets. It is an excellent training spot when ocean conditions are too strong on the exposed beaches.
