Agnes Water

Agnes Water

Overview

Agnes Water is a kitesurfing spot located on the south coast of Queensland, approximately 480 km north of Brisbane. It is the northernmost surf beach on the Australian east coast and the gateway to the neighboring town of 1770. The spot offers a pristine natural setting with a long sandy beach lined with tropical vegetation. Wind conditions are dominated by south-east trade winds that blow regularly from September to March, with gusts between 15 and 25 knots. The wind is generally side-shore, creating good conditions for kitesurfing. Waves are moderate, between 0.5 and 1.5 m, with a sandy bottom. The water is warm year-round thanks to the proximity of the Great Barrier Reef. Agnes Water is a relatively remote spot, which means fewer people on the water but also less rescue infrastructure. It is suitable for intermediate riders who enjoy a calm natural setting. The town has a few shops, accommodations, and restaurants. It is an excellent starting point for exploring the Discovery Coast region.
