Paal 33 / Texel is an expert-level North Sea kitesurf spot on the northern wild coast of Texel island (Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage area). Named after beach pole 33. Remote, wide beach with strong consistent winds, large waves, and powerful rip currents. One of the most spectacular and wild spots in the Netherlands.
Expert level — Texel's exposed northern coast gets the full force of the North Sea and Waddenzee currents. Best in strong W/NW/SW. Year-round accessible but harsh in winter. No facilities at beach — bring everything. The island has various accommodation options. Ferry from Den Helder to Texel (TESO ferry, 20 min, frequent). Once on Texel: car or bike to north coast.
Access: ferry from Den Helder (TESO, 20 min, frequent). On Texel: drive/cycle north to Paal 33 area. Beach access via marked paal (pole) paths. No permanent facilities. GPS: Paal 33, north Texel. Accommodation available in De Cocksdorp, De Koog, or Den Burg (Texel main town).
North Sea — medium to large waves. Strong rip currents. Powerful in storm conditions. Deep water. Large tidal range. Cold year-round: 3/2mm summer, 5/4mm + boots + gloves winter. Expert minimum.

W/NW/SW best — full Atlantic fetch. Very clean, strong wind. No obstacles for hundreds of km. Exposed northern position of Texel amplifies conditions. Year-round. Best Oct–Mar for largest waves and strongest wind. In summer: lighter but still good wave conditions.
