Smiltynė is the northern entry point of the Curonian Spit (Neringa), accessible by ferry from Klaipėda. The spot offers two water bodies: the Baltic Sea on the west side and the Curonian Lagoon on the east side.
On the lagoon side, waters are flat and shallow, ideal for beginners. On the sea side, conditions are more exposed with chop. Westerly winds are most favourable. The ferry from Klaipėda arrives directly at Smiltynė.
The Lithuanian Sea Museum and dolphinarium are located in Smiltynė. The season runs from May to October. The spot suits beginners on the lagoon side and intermediates on the sea side.
