Sandy Bay Beach is located on the east shore of Lake Winnipeg, between Grand Marais to the south and the Manigotagan River mouth to the north. This east coast spot offers western exposure facing the lake's south basin, with significant fetch for west and northwest winds. The long, open sandy beach allows spacious sessions. The area is wilder and less crowded than the popular beaches to the south like Patricia Beach.
Freshwater body with 40-50 km westerly fetch. Moderate to strong chop depending on wind intensity. Progressive sandy bottom. Waves can reach 1-1.5 m in sustained winds. Less crowded area offering more space for relaxed riding.

Remote area with limited rescue nearby. Violent and sudden thunderstorms typical of Lake Winnipeg in summer. Cold water most of the season. Abundant driftwood. No lifeguards — riding with a partner is strongly recommended.
