Aegina Agios Vasilios is a spot on the island of Aegina, in the Saronic Gulf, about 30 km southwest of Athens. Aegina is the largest island in the Saronic Gulf and offers sailing conditions in a protected setting. Agios Vasilios, on the west coast of the island, faces towards the Peloponnese. The spot benefits from the attenuated Meltemi in the Saronic Gulf (N/NNE) as well as the characteristic south thermal breeze ("Embatis") of the region.
Launch from the west-facing beach. In Meltemi (N/NNE), the wind is side-shore — riding along the coast. In Embatis (S/SSW), the wind is side-onshore — more accessible conditions. The Saronic Gulf offers a protected sailing area with limited fetch between Aegina and the Peloponnese. Watch for maritime traffic (ferries, shuttles) between Aegina and Piraeus.
Flat to light chop water thanks to the limited Saronic Gulf fetch. The passage between Aegina and the Peloponnese (about 15 km) doesn't allow large wave development. Ideal conditions for foiling and wingfoiling. Clear and pleasant Saronic Gulf water. Progressive depth.

Open all year round
Access by ferry from Piraeus (about 40 minutes by hydrofoil, 1h15 by regular ferry). On the island, access by vehicle or scooter from Aegina port. Parking near Agios Vasilios beach. Services in the village.
INTENSE maritime traffic — ferries, hydrofoils and shuttles between Aegina and Piraeus. Stay in the coastal zone and avoid navigation channels. Possible current in the passage between Aegina and the mainland/Peloponnese. No specific supervision for water sports.
The Meltemi (N/NNE) is attenuated in the Saronic Gulf compared to the open Aegean, but remains the dominant summer wind. On Aegina's west coast, it arrives side-shore. The south/SSW thermal breeze ("Embatis") develops in the afternoon and can reach 15-20 knots, arriving side-onshore. The Saronic Gulf creates a channeling effect between Aegina and the Peloponnese that can reinforce S/SSW winds. Moderate and consistent conditions, suited to a wide range of riders.
