Kitesurfing spot in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, on the Ottawa River, in the Laurentians. The Grenville area offers access to a wide section of the river, between Hawkesbury and Lachute.
The Ottawa River is one of Quebec's largest rivers. At Grenville, it flows west to east with a water body wide enough for sailing. South and southwest winds easily cross the valley. Site accessible from Montreal in 1h15. Season from June to October.
Fresh water from the Ottawa River. Summer temperature of 20-23°C. Sandy to rocky bottom. Moderate current — watch for eastward drift. Chop formed by wind against current. Navigable width sufficient for kitesurfing.
