Clear Lake City Beach is a kitesurf spot on the north shore of Clear Lake, accessible from the town of Clear Lake. This urban spot offers easy water access with parking and amenities nearby. South winds provide good fetch across the full length of the lake from this north shore. Popular spot with locals. Season from May to October.
Shallow freshwater (max depth ~5m). Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 25°C in summer. Sandy bottom near beach. Short chop in strong winds. Full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall, shorty or rashguard in summer.

Frequent violent thunderstorms in summer with lightning — exit water immediately. Heavy boat traffic in summer, especially weekends. Shallow lake: risk of hitting bottom. Blue-green algae possible in summer. Proximity to urban area: watch for swimmers and anglers.
