Sandpoint City Beach Park is a kitesurf spot on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho's largest lake and one of the deepest in North America (351m). Located in northern Idaho, this spectacular glacial lake is surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains. Sandpoint's city beach offers good water access with parking and amenities. Consistent afternoon thermal winds. Crystal-clear and cold water. Season from May to October. Sandpoint is a charming mountain town with all services.

Crystal-clear glacial freshwater — one of the clearest in the United States. Water temperature from 2°C in winter to 20°C in summer. Very deep lake (351m max). Sandy bottom near beach. Moderate to strong chop in high winds due to large fetch. Full 4/3 wetsuit minimum, 5/3 recommended in spring/fall. Cold water even in summer.
Cold water — hypothermia possible even in summer. Large lake: conditions can deteriorate rapidly with significant waves. Mountain thunderstorms with lightning. Motorboat traffic in summer. Currents possible near Clark Fork River mouth. Black bears in surrounding wooded areas.
