Medard is an artificial lake created on the site of a former open-pit lignite mine in the Karlovy Vary region of western Bohemia. It is one of the new Czech mine lakes developing as a kitesurf spot. The area is open and exposed to the prevailing west winds. The water is clean and the lake continues to fill.
