S-Bends is a kitesurfing spot located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, south of Mooloolaba. The spot gets its name from the S-curves of the coastal road that runs along this section of beach. It is a spot popular with local kitesurfers who enjoy the southeast trade winds, consistent and reliable for most of the year. Sailing conditions are typical of the Australian east coast with moderate-sized waves and side-shore to side-onshore wind in southeast wind. The beach is long and offers space for launching and landing kites. The water is clear and the temperature pleasant year-round, allowing sailing in a shorty or even boardshorts in summer. The best season runs from October to March, when the southeast trades blow regularly between 15 and 25 knots. Conditions are suitable for intermediate and advanced riders due to waves and shore break that can be powerful. Watch out for rip currents and surfers sharing the waves.
