Fort Morgan is located at the tip of the Fort Morgan Peninsula, at the eastern entrance of Mobile Bay. The historic fort (built 1819-1834) played a key role during the American Civil War in the Battle of Mobile Bay (1864). The spot is advanced due to very powerful tidal currents at the bay entrance. The beach faces south on the Gulf and east on the bay entrance channel. Conditions can be complex with converging currents. A ferry connects Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island. Spot reserved for experienced riders.
