Sardinia Bay is a wild and preserved bay located southwest of Port Elizabeth. It is a nature reserve with a white sandy beach bordered by dunes and fynbos vegetation. The bay faces south and fully receives SW swells. It is one of the most beautiful spots in the PE region, but also one of the most exposed. Waves can be substantial and conditions committing. Advanced spot in an exceptional natural setting.
The spot works with SE to WSW wind. Sandy beach with beach break waves. Waves are often bigger than in the city due to direct exposure to SW swells. Rideable at all tides. Isolated spot — come with other riders. Conditions often committing, check forecasts before coming.

Waves of 1-3 metres, sometimes more during large SW swells. Sandy bottom. Strong currents during large swells. Cooler water than Bluewater Bay (17-21°C). 3/2 wetsuit in summer, 4/3 in winter.
Access via a dirt road from Schoenmakerskop. Parking in the nature reserve. No facilities on the beach. Bring water and supplies. Protected natural environment — respect the reserve. PE 20 minutes away.
Southeast wind blows side-onshore. The exposed bay position offers unobstructed wind, often stronger than in the city. Strength of 15-28 knots in summer. WSW is onshore with powerful conditions. The south-facing open bay receives the full wind effect. PE "Windy City" — very reliable wind.
Isolated spot with no lifeguard or rescue services. Very powerful shore break during large swells. Sharks frequent in this area (great whites). Strong currents. Rocky coast of Schoenmakerskop to avoid in case of drift. Do not ride alone. Reserved for advanced riders.
