Cable Beach is one of Australia's most iconic kitesurfing spots, located in Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. This legendary 22-kilometer beach of pristine white sand is bordered by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Cable Beach is world-famous for its spectacular sunsets, camel rides, and some of the largest tides in the world. The prevailing winds follow a seasonal pattern: during the dry season (April to October), the southeast trade winds blow consistently, offering perfect side-offshore conditions. The best period for kiting is May to September with 15-25 knot winds almost daily. Broome's tides are extraordinary (up to 10 meters of tidal range), revealing kilometers of flat sand at low tide, perfect for landkiting, and offering a very shallow body of water. Broome has accommodations of all ranges, restaurants, and tourist services. Parking is along the beach. Beware of saltwater crocodiles (confirmed presence), deadly box jellyfish during the wet season (November-April), and extreme tides that require careful planning. Do not venture too far from shore on an outgoing tide.
