Kure Beach is a quiet, small beach town on Pleasure Island, south of Carolina Beach in the Wilmington area. The beach faces southeast toward the Atlantic. Kure Beach is known for its family-friendly and laid-back atmosphere, its historic fishing pier and proximity to Fort Fisher State Historic Site. Kitesurfing is practiced on the ocean beach when wind conditions are favorable. The town is less touristy than Wrightsville Beach, offering more tranquility.
