Kiwara Beach is a kitesurf spot located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, on the west coast of Honshu facing the Sea of Japan and the Kanmon Strait. The spot offers an open body of water with good exposure to prevailing winds. Northwest and west winds are dominant in autumn and winter, fed by the Sea of Japan weather systems. These winds can be sustained and regular, offering good sessions. In summer, thermal breezes from the south are lighter but can be sufficient for wingfoil and foil. The spot is suitable for intermediates. The bottom is sandy and launching is easy. The proximity of Shimonoseki, a city famous for its fugu (pufferfish), allows combining water sessions with local gastronomy.
