Blown Kiteboarding (Blown Island) is the main spot of the Blown Kiteboarding school, located on the soundside of Bogue Banks near Emerald Isle. The spot is on Bogue Sound, a sheltered body of water between the barrier island and the mainland. The water is flat and shallow — ideal conditions for learning. Blown Kiteboarding is one of the most reputable schools on the Crystal Coast, offering lessons, rentals and excursions. Bogue Sound is tide-influenced, unlike Pamlico Sound.

Light but present tidal current — check tide times. Stingrays — do the stingray shuffle. Jellyfish in summer. Area shared with beginners and students — ride with caution. Afternoon thunderstorms possible in summer. Respect the school's teaching zones.
