Britannia (snowkite) is the same location as Britannia Beach (ID 2113) but used for snowkiting in winter. When Lake DeschĂŞnes (Ottawa River) freezes sufficiently, the ice sheet offers a flat, open terrain ideal for snowkiting with wind from all directions.
Check ice thickness before going out (minimum 15 cm recommended). Snowkiting typically runs January through March depending on conditions. All wind directions work on the open ice sheet.

CHECK ICE THICKNESS — minimum 15 cm to walk, 20 cm recommended for kiting. Current areas where ice may be thin (river mouths). Possible cracks. Mandatory ice safety equipment (ice picks, rope). Hypothermia risk.
