Mawella Beach, also known as "Mad Dog Beach," is located in Southern Province on Sri Lanka's south coast near Tangalle. The beach faces south and receives SW monsoon winds from May to October.

An intermediate to advanced spot. The beach is less developed than the main tourist beaches. Sandy bottom with some rocky sections. Waves are common on this exposed south-facing coast. The SW monsoon brings side-shore to onshore winds. Currents can be strong. A good option for riders looking for waves in a quieter setting. Limited facilities nearby.
