Calder Bay is a kitesurfing spot located on Key Largo, on the bay side (Florida Bay). This small sheltered bay offers shallow, calm waters ideal for flat water kiting. The easterly trade winds blow toward the bay, creating flat conditions. The spot is well protected from ocean waves and offers a safe environment. Less known than Islamorada or Marathon spots, Calder Bay is a good option for peaceful sessions on upper Key Largo.

Calder Bay's water body is a shallow Florida Bay inlet with a sandy and seagrass bottom. Depth varies from 1 to 3 feet depending on the tide. In trade winds, conditions are perfectly flat. The water is warm and relatively clear. The bay offers limited but sufficient riding space for freeride or learning sessions.
Watch for stingrays in seagrass — practice the stingray shuffle. At low tide, the bay can become very shallow. In trade winds, the wind blows from land — stay in areas where you can stand to be able to walk back. Respect marine life and surrounding mangrove areas.
