La Mercy Lagoon is a flat-water kite spot at the Mdloti River mouth, north of Durban. This shallow lagoon is ideal for beginners and learning kitesurfing and wingfoil. Warm water year-round (22-26°C). Popular spot with kite schools nearby.

Access from the N2 or the coastal road north of Durban. Parking at the lagoon edge.
The dominant wind is the NE (summer trade wind), blowing onto the lagoon. Reliable thermal wind in the afternoon. Rideable year-round, best October to April.
Few dangers. Watch for currents if the river mouth is open. Hippos rarely reported. Check for power lines.
