Delta Beach is located on the east shore of Lake Manitoba, in the area of the famous Delta Marsh — one of North America's largest wetlands. The spot offers western exposure on Lake Manitoba with significant fetch. Delta Marsh, at the mouth of the Assiniboine River, creates a unique environment where the marsh area protects from east winds while the large lake opens to the west. Bird research station nearby.
Shallow Lake Manitoba (average depth 7 m). Western exposure with fetch exceeding 50 km. Characteristic short, steep chop. Sandy bottom near beach, becoming muddy further out. The Delta Marsh area can offer calmer waters behind the beach.

Violent and sudden prairie thunderstorms in summer. Lake Manitoba can become dangerous quickly. Muddy bottom offshore. Marsh area with aquatic vegetation that can hinder navigation. Cold water. Very abundant mosquitoes in the marsh area.
